How This Calculator Works

The Meat Guy HK Meat Planning Calculator is built on the research behind our Meat Math series — a set of articles covering everything from raw portion sizes and cooking shrinkage to bone-in versus boneless yields and freezer storage in Hong Kong homes.

The numbers are based on tested portion benchmarks for different occasions — a BBQ crowd eats differently to a hotpot table. Each result is adjusted for cooking loss by cut type, bone-in weight allowances, and how much your sides will reduce meat consumption. The result is a practical raw purchase weight — what you actually need to put in your basket, not what ends up on the plate.
