A Year Ago You Told Us What Was Wrong. Here's What We Did About It.

Customer order from The Meat Guy HK

If you want to see where this all started — this was our first post. It doesn't say much. But it's where it began.

A year ago, we asked you what wasn't working — and you answered. You told us where we were falling short, what frustrated you, and what you wanted to see done differently.

That feedback shaped everything we've done since.

This isn't a marketing update. It's a progress report.

What You Told Us

The survey responses were specific and honest — and they deserved a specific and honest response.

The majority of you told us that price mattered, but not at the expense of quality. You weren't looking for discounts. You were looking for value you could trust.

You told us that cooking confidence was a genuine barrier — not just knowing what to buy, but knowing what to do with it once it arrived. You wanted guidance that felt practical, not promotional.

You told us that transparency mattered. Where the meat came from, how it was handled, why the ordering process worked the way it did — you wanted straight answers, not marketing language.

And you told us that the personal service you experienced through WhatsApp was the thing you valued most. You didn't want that to change — you wanted everything else to catch up with it.

We took all of that seriously.

What We Changed

Ask The Meat Guy

A Weekly Content Cycle Built Around How You Actually Cook

Every week now follows a consistent rhythm — Sunday product post, Tuesday recipe, Wednesday blog, Friday Ask The Meat Guy. That structure means you always know what's coming, and every piece connects to real products and real cooking questions.

It's not random content. It's a system built around how people shop and cook in Hong Kong — weekly planning, small kitchens, and the kind of practical knowledge that makes a difference at 6pm on a Tuesday.

A Knowledge Library That Answers the Questions Nobody Else Bothers With

We've built a growing archive of practical answers — from why meat sticks to the pan to how resting changes texture, from whether searing actually locks in juices to how long different cuts last in the fridge.

It's the same advice we give privately to customers mid-cook when they message us for help. It's now available to everyone, anytime, on the site.

The Ask The Meat Guy section and the recipe library are both updated weekly. Between them, they now cover storage, preparation, cooking technique, and over 33 recipes built around what we actually stock.

The knowledge library grows every week — but the best questions usually come from real cooking situations, not from us guessing what you might want to know. If there's something you've always wondered about meat — storage, preparation, a technique that's never quite worked, a cut you don't understand — send it through. We read everything and the best questions become Ask The Meat Guy articles. Your question might already be someone else's problem.

The Personal WhatsApp Service — Unchanged, By Design

You told us the WhatsApp experience was the thing you valued most. So we didn't change it. We protected it.

Orders still come through WhatsApp. The conversation is still direct, personal, and flexible. Custom cuts, specific requests, questions before you buy — all handled the same way they always were.

And for our regulars — the customers who order week after week — loyalty doesn't go unnoticed. Not through points systems or automated discounts, but through the kind of small personal gestures that feel like a genuine thank you rather than a marketing mechanism. That's intentional, and it won't change.

The Meat Planner

One thing you didn't ask for but told us you needed — a way to plan how much meat to buy for different occasions without guessing.

The Meat Planner was built specifically for Hong Kong gatherings — BBQs, hotpots, dinner parties — with portion guidance adjusted for bone-in cuts, cooking yield, and the number of sides you're serving. It takes about 30 seconds to use and removes one of the most common sources of over-ordering and under-ordering.

One More Thing Worth Saying

Two ends of the same rump

Meat is inherently variable. Every animal is different, every cut is different, and no two pieces are ever truly identical. We work hard to maintain consistency — in quality, in sourcing, and in service — but we don't always get it right.

When we fall short, we want to know. Not to make excuses, but because feedback is genuinely how we improve. The survey that started all of this is proof of that.

If something isn't right — the cut, the service, the communication — tell us. A quick message on WhatsApp is all it takes. We'd rather hear it from you directly than lose you quietly.

What's Next

The knowledge library keeps growing. The recipe library keeps expanding — into premium cuts, into cuisine styles that haven't been covered yet, and into the kind of practical weeknight cooking that suits how most people in Hong Kong actually eat.

The category and product pages on the site are being updated progressively — adding context, internal links, and the kind of information that helps you make a better decision before you order, not just after.

And the weekly content cycle continues — the same rhythm, the same commitment to saying something useful rather than something promotional.

The Honest Promise

A year ago you told us what you wanted. Most of it came down to one thing — treat us like we know what we're doing, and help us do it better.

That's what the knowledge library is for. That's what the weekly recipes are for. That's what the personal WhatsApp service is for.

We're not here to sell you meat. We're here to make sure that when you buy it, you know exactly what you're buying, how to cook it, and why it tastes the way it does.

That was the commitment a year ago. It's still the commitment now.
